Self Confidence And Me

Self confidence has always been a problem for me and i think it always will be.

I wanted to write about this issue because I think it’s so important and it can be so debilitating at times so if we can talk about it more, we can help each other become more self confident.

When I was younger I had zero self confidence and was often crippled by nerves. I had a supportive family but my nerves and shyness made me an easy target for bullies.

I wasn’t badly bullied but needless to say, the bullies knocked my confidence even more.

When I was a teenager my mom thought it would good for me to join a drama group. She could see my nerves were holding me back and stopping me doing things I really wanted to do such as, drama and dance.

When I joined I found it so hard at first to participate and get involved. But slowly, as I got to know the group, I found it more comfortable and was able to join in. I remember the first show I was part of. I only had a small part but I was seriously contemplating running from the building via the nearest exit. I didn’t though. I forced myself to go on and i did my bit and absolutely loved it. The feeling of achievement after was immense.

This quote is so True. But much easier said than done. I have missed out on so much over the years just because I did not have the self confidence to join in or take part.

Self confidence is so important. You need to have confidence in yourself to be successful and happy. I never thought when I was younger I would get married. Who would want me? I am married now to a wonderful man who supports and encourages me everyday.

I am the only female Manager at my company and manage a team of 25 people and most of them are men. I never thought I would have the confidence to do that so I am proud of myself. I know I am never going to be super confident but each day I work at it a bit more and keep pushing myself to do things that take me out of my comfort zone. Presentations at work, meeting new people, blogging 😀.
To help with my self confidence I use fashion and make up. It really helps. If I think I look good, I feel good and have more confidence.
Surround yourself with positive, happy people this really helps and also, compliment. A compliment to someone with a lack of self confidence, no matter how small, means so much.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this issue so please comment below.

Thanks for reading
