Spa Weekend & Designer Outlet Shopping

This is my favourite type of weekend and its become an annual tradition for my two best friends, my mom and me to go on a weekend spa break. We then always try to squeeze in some shopping too.

Last weekend we went to the beautiful Crewe Hall in Cheshire. Its part of the Q Hotel group and they do great Spa packages which are brilliant value for money. For £130 each we got a 1 hour spa treatment, the hotel room, lunch, evening meal and breakfast. You also get full use of all of the facilities.

We arrived at 11:30am on Saturday as our treatments were booked for noon. I have stayed at this hotel a number of times now and its my favorite of all the Q hotels. The old part of the hotel is stunning and steeped in history. There is a modern, new part of the hotel which is where the spa and many of the bedrooms are and also the main restaurant.

The treatment I chose was “fit for business” which is a back treatment. This consists of a back brush, cleanse, exfoliation, mask and massage. Its extremely relaxing and i almost nodded off a few times during the treatment.

Once we were all relaxed and rested we then went for lunch. Most of the people on these breaks are women and most, like us, were sat in the restaurant in our spa robes and slippers.

For lunch you can choose two courses from a set menu. I had goats cheese balls with a beetroot dressing for my starter and then a smoked salmon sandwich for main. You don’t have to have sandwiches though there are burgers, and fish etc on the menu too.

Once we had eaten, we went back to the spa and relaxed by the pool. It was lovely and quiet so we enjoyed a bit of swimming then spent some time in the jacuzzi and steam room. There are plenty of sun loungers around the pool so we did a bit more relaxing and read some magazines.

We then checked into our rooms and got ready for the evening. The rooms are big and comfatable with a bath and seperate shower.

We went to the bar before our dinner and had some cocktails. I had the most delicious mojitos !image

For dinner three of us shared a mezze platter and one of my friends had the soup. I had lemon chicken for my main meal and then chocolate brownie for desert. It’s fair to say, I struggled to move after eating it all but i thoroughly enjoyed it. After all, we had a really busy day so we needed to build up our energy levels.

We finished the night in the bar and had a few more drinks and watched the fireworks courtesy of a wedding that was going on at the hotel.

Then it was time to snooze. We were all exhausted.

The next morning we had breakfast which is buffet style. I am not usually a massive breakfast eater but I did enjoy my eggs, toast, hash browns, mushrooms and tomatoes.

We checked out of the hotel and then headed off to Cheshire Oaks designer outlet village which is about a 40 minute drive from Crewe Hall.

Cheshire Oaks is a massive shopping village, in fact its the largest in the UK and there is a good mixture of designer and high street. It’s really well laid out and there is plenty of free parking. Brands there include, Burberry, Mulberry, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren & Gucci.

I got quite a few bargains, in fact we all did well and struggled to get everything in the car. I will do a separate blog about my purchases but my favorite shops were, Ted Baker, Gucci, Paperchase and Yankee Candle.image

Everything is discounted, sometimes things are massively discounted. If you sign up for their privilege club online before you go like we did, you can also claim an extra 10% discount in many of the shops.

There are lots of places to each and we decided to have a pizza from Pizza Express before we headed home.

It was a brilliant weekend and i cant wait to do it again.
