The Chole Nile is a bag I have been lusting after for a while now and its on my bag wish list but it’s currently retailing for over £1000 so, I won’t be getting it anytime soon.
I was reading in a magazine about a cheap dupe that was apparently amazing and was only £17.00 so I had to know more.
It was from Shein. I had heard mixed reports about this Chinese website. Most were pretty bad, but then one of my favourite You Tubers, Sophie Shohet has got some lovely items from them so I decided to risk it and place an order.
On the website I discovered they have lots of bag dupes. Chanel, Dior, Gucci. They even have a dupe of the Bulgari Serpanti bag. I wanted to put them all in my shopping bag but decided to be sensible and just buy one to see what the quality was like.
It took about 10 days to arrive from China to the UK. You can pay for a quicker delivery but that would have cost more than than the total value of my order so I stuck with the standard delivery service.
It arrived, and this is it.
On first impressions it looks ok. It’s an almost identical design to the Chloe Nile.
On closer inspection, its pretty bad. As a bag lover, poorly made bags really upset me. Now, for £17 I wasn’t expecting much but I have had bags from Primark in the past that were cheaper than this and the quality is 100 times better.
The gold is all tarnished, theres bits of paper stuck in the glue that’s holding it all together, there are loads of black scuff marks over the cream bits, the black edging has chunks missing, they haven’t even bothered to finish the stitching on the inside pocket or its all come un-done, so thats just flapping about. Its horrendous.
I also got a dress from this website which I thought would be nice for my holiday. Like the bags, the clothes on the website look amazing.
This is what the dress should have looked like –
I can’t show you what it was actually like as I threw it in the bin. But it was like a cheap old pair of curtains from 1972 which had been stitched together to make this shapeless dress. It came with another strip of material which you could use as a belt, the material was cheap, itchy nylon that was full of static so kept giving me shocks when I tried it on. The static then made it cling to my body.
So all in all, I am not happy with my Shein purchases and will not be buying from them again. I didn’t bother trying to return the items because I had heard that trying to get your money back was a nightmare and I would have to pay the postage. So I thew the dress in the bin and I will give one of my Nieces the bag to play with.
I would love to hear about your Shein experience so if you have brought from them, please comment below.
